PRAYER delivered in Kansas, USA, at the opening session of the Senate

It seems that prayer still bothers some people.

When evangelical minister Joe Wright was invited to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone expected the usual generalities, but here's what they heard: "Heavenly Father, we stand before you today to ask your forgiveness and seek your guidance and direction."

We know that your word says: "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness, and bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20)

* Lord, that's exactly what we've done!

 * We lose our spiritual balance and pervert our values.

 * We ridicule the absolute truth of your word and call it pluralism.

 * We worship other gods and call it multiculturalism.

 * We approve of perversion and call it alternative living.

 * We exploit the poor and call it a lottery.

 * We reward laziness and call it welfare.

 * We kill our fetuses and call it a decision.

 * We have abortionists and call it justifiable.

* We neglect to discipline our children and call it self-esteem building.

 * We abuse power and call it politics.

 * We misappropriate public funds and call it essential expenditure.

 * We've institutionalized corruption and called it cabinet money.

 * We covet our neighbor's property and call it ambition.

 * We pollute the media with profanity and pornography and call it free speech.

 * We ridicule the secular values of our ancestors and call it modern enlightenment.

 * Probe us, O God, and know our hearts today;*

 * Cleanse us from all sin and free us from all defilement. Amen!"*

 * The response was immediate. Several legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. *

 * In just 6 weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is a pastor, logged over 5,000 phone calls, of which only 47 were negative.

 * The church is now receiving international requests for copies of the prayer from India, Africa and Korea.

 * With the Lord's help, may this prayer cross our nation and sincerely become our wish that we once again be called "a nation where GOD is above all".

 * Think about it: if you forward this prayer to everyone on your list, in less than 30 days it will be seen all over the world, especially by politicians in all public spheres.* 🙏🙏

Eternal Father, you made the whole world stop walking for a while. You forcibly silenced the noise we all created around us. You made us bend our knees and ask for miracles. You closed your churches so we'd realize how dark our world is without you. You've humiliated the proud and powerful. The economy is collapsing, businesses are closing. We took great pride in thinking that everything we have, everything we own, is the result of our hard work. We've forgotten that it was your grace, your mercy, that made us the way we are and gave us everything we have.

We're running around in circles looking for a cure for this disease, when in fact we should be humbling ourselves and seeking advice and wisdom only from You. We've lived our lives as if we were here on Earth forever, as if there were no heaven, no purgatory, no hell. Perhaps this virus is actually your way of purifying and cleansing our souls, bringing us back to You. Today, as these words travel across the Internet, may all who see them unite their hearts and hands in prayer to ask forgiveness, to ask for healing and protection from this virus, but above all, to ask that Your Holy and Divine Will be done and not ours.

GOD, we beseech You, deliver us from all evil on Earth if it is Your will! Father, you have waited patiently for us to turn our faces to you, to repent of our sins. We are sorry to ignore your voice! Sometimes we selfishly forget that you are GOD! Lord, I'm not worthy of you coming to my house, but a word from you will be enough to heal me! You, Lord, have only to speak the Word and our souls will be healed. We ask for healing and deliverance in Jesus' name! Through the infinite merits of his Most Sacred Heart and the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen...
